Artist’s Statement and Bio
“To me painting is an alchemical process, which transforms base
materials into something that speaks to the essence of human experience.
I seek to tap the heart of life, by exploring perception and reality from
my unique point of view.”
Originally from California, (b. i1967), Tony Zatzick has lived, worked
and exhibited in both Europe and the Americas. He has spent significant
amounts of time in France, New Orleans, Guatemala and Arkansas. He received
a BA in Painting from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1989,
and his MFA from Western Connecticut State University, where he was awarded
the Master of Fine Art award in 2004. He has studied under such well-known
artists as Graham Nickson, Hugh O’ Donnell, Margaret Grimes, and
Marjorie Portnow. His work has been included in many nationally and regionally
juried exhibitions across the country, as well as numerous private collections.
Currently he is training as a Kundalini Yoga Instructor and working
on a body of new paintings that reflect this experience.
